Anti-littering outreach on National Day

Aug 09, 2019

This year, the Public Hygiene Council (PHC) had the support of more than 200 volunteers from the Lions Club of Singapore Mandarin and Singapore Scout Association, as well as Litter-Free Ambassadors from NEA to conduct anti-littering outreach during the National Day festivities around Marina Bay. Our volunteers helped in engaging and reminding the public to pick up after themselves, and also picked up litter that they encounter. The volunteers were deployed at the periphery of the NDP (MBS Mist Walk, Promontory, Merlion Park and Jubilee Bridge) area.

There was positive media coverage on our volunteers’ anti-littering outreach efforts carried in The Straits Times and Shin Min Daily News. Volunteers from Singapore Scouts Association (SSA) were interviewed for this media piece, which featured regular scout volunteer Mr Caleb Teo who brought along his family for anti-littering outreach together.
