International Coastal Cleanup Singapore (ICCS)


Since 1992, volunteers with the International Coastal Cleanup Singapore (ICCS), from all walks of life and various age groups, have been battling the tonnes of trash that regularly find their way to our mangroves and beaches.

This year in 2017, in just 90 minutes, 3,614 volunteers cleared these Top 5 items*
1. 53,904 foam pieces
2. 18,023 plastic beverage bottles
3. 17,255 cigarette butts
4. 15,869 plastic pieces
5. 14,004 straws / stirrers

ICCS volunteers coordinate organisers of coastal cleanups, conduct workshops to train organisers, hold talks for the public and share ideas to prevent trash generation in our daily lives.

The marine trash problem is one of the biggest challenges confronting mankind and it requires all hands on-deck – and we each have a role to play.
